A Regular Week...

...If there is such a thing. This week in the office has been nice. We have had stuff to do and been busy for the most part but it has also been relaxing and a nice break from the fast paced world of camps. I am really enjoying working here at North Davis and I am excited to see what God has in store for the rest of the summer.

Yesterday we had our first new Wednesday night set up. We are calling it Ignite. If you like it let me know if you don't keep it to yourself. :o) But really it went well. It's a changed from how Wednesday nights are usually done and I think the kids responded to it really well-if you are a NDSM member and you liked it let me know! We had a great time of praise and worship and Michael and Kouster (sp?) did a great job sharing what was on their hearts with everyone. Thanks guys.

Tonight is SYS and tomorrow is a day to breathe! Praise God! It's fun. I love my job.

Be Blessed!!!

Faith-Hope-Love

Kadesh and MPulse have been the last two weeks of my life. Man, what a way to spend you time: digging in the Word, discussion the Word and acting on the Word. Praise God for what he has done in my life the last two weeks but Praise him more for how he has transformed the lives of 11 High School Graduates and 20 7th & 8th graders.

Kadesh-HOPE
What better a message for High School graduates to hear then the Hope we have in Christ. Call me and I will tell you about my experience-if you can't do that email me (
asn02a@acu.edu). It's great to see 11 kids go from "I think I'm going to heaven" to "You better believe I'm going to heaven and let me tell you why!" Man-awesome!

Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing!
Power and majesty praise to the King!
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar,
at the sound of your name!
I sing for joy at the work of Your hand!
Forever I'll love you forever I'll stand!
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you!

MPulse-Agape for the World
20 of the most challenging middle school kids I have ever worked with. Not challenging like asking question but challenging like a typical middle school kid. This week has taught me patience. Praise God for being my strength. Today I think most of them got it. All week we have been talking about what it means to love like Christ loved. Today we had a foot washing ceremony where Bryan and I washed the feet of each of our group members while Luke and Chris prayed over them. Awesome! "So that's what it means to love like Jesus!" Light bulb! Happy heart! I love middle school kids-even the challenging ones!

It was a great 2 weeks! Call me if you want to know more!
I love you guys! Be Blessed!!!

Divine Design...

Painting houses...Changing Lives...From the outside in!

That was the theme for Arlington Work Camp 2005. I have not done a camp like this in a very long time and It has been so spiritually renewing for me. It was a great reminder to me of why I love teenagers so much and that they are not all about themselves. Arlington has a youth that knows what it means to be a Christian. I'm a Christian so I serve. It's natural to them. Second nature. It's what I'm supposed to do. No complaints. No questions. Just service.

This week I have gotten to see a level of service that I didn't even know kids still had. To be honest I had almost lost hope in a deeper service for this teenage generation but there's something bigger. God has a Divine Design for us and service is the path he has created us to walk. Praise God for teenagers who surpass surface level service and hit the heart of Christianity! Praise God for teenagers who get it! Praise God!

Done! Time!

In the words of my friend Chris Lair, Done! Time! Finals are over and grades are in. Not too shabby this semester. I am home and ready to relax. Had a great weekend with Chris, Clint, Heather, Shannon and the GParents in San Antonio this last weekend and spent a couple of days in Abilene. Dad came in for his short course so I had a few meals with him and yesterday I spent the day with Joel shopping, thats right shopping, and loading art work, some of which I am proud to say I now own. I have 2 original Joel Goudeau snapshots and one original pastal drawing. I'm proud. We also watched The Lord of the Rings, just the first one. It was my first time and now I am hooked. I can't wait to watch the rest of them. I might go rent them tomorrow!

I enjoyed my drive home. My dad came up Sunday to Abilene and much to my surprise he drove my new car which means I got to bring it on the nice 6 hour journey home! I love it!!! I was so excited when he came with it that I wanted to drive everywhere. I even drove around at Midnight b/c I couldn't sleep Sunday night. It's awesome! Well, it's about 11:30 which is still pretty early but I got up at 7:30 this morning so I am gonna hit the hay! Everyone have a great night and by all means, call me! I would love to talk to you!

Be Blessed!!!

SA Town

Chris Lair here, filling in for Mandy today. Hope y'all have enjoyed the first weekend of summer. We're having a party here in San Antonio. Not really we've sat around, watched movies, and ate a whole lot of food. I'm at my grandparents house with Mandy, Heather, and Clint. We worked as a teaching team for the 8th graders Wednesday night class at Highland this year, and it's great to spend time together to wrap up a successful year. I'm so thankful that God put us together, I couldn't have asked for a better group. I've been so blessed to be around these three, they have encouraged me in so many ways. I look up to each of them a whole lot. They've poured their hearts into ministry and are incredible examples of selfless servants. Mandy's been our momma, caring for us and keeping us in line. She is definitely one special lady. I don't know many who work harder or are as solid as Clint. We give Heather a hard time, but honestly she's a one in a million girl who brings a lot of joy to our lives. It's obvious she has a gift in ministry to connect with students (not just because she looks like one) but they really love her, and who could help themselves. But really, I've had a monopoly on gifted teachers to work with and hope we can do this again next year. I'm glad they came down here to spend the weekend together, we got the hook-ups on food from my grandparents and this is just a little way I can say thank you to them. Well, I don't do this blog thing so I'm signing off. Peace,
Lair

A New Juggling Record

No more Exegesis! I finished my final today and I am so excited! I celebrated with a Dr. Pepper, ice cream and by breaking the old juggling record that I set. 71 times! Broke the record by48 juggles. Maybe not that impressive or exciting to you but for me, an accomplishment!

Tomorrow I turn in my last final and struggle to pay attention through some presentations and then it's off to San Antonio. I am excited about relaxing and spending time with some friends before the Summer job starts.

Tonight is roommate night so I am going to go help cook dinner. After that we are going BOWLING!! Woo Hoo!!! So anyway, I'm out!

Be Blessed!!!

Experiencing My Roommates Heart Palpitations

It starts with the purchase of $16 pizza. The three of us desire to consume this product only to realize that 3 personal pans and 2 cinna sticks from the hut of pizza on the campus of Abilene Christian University totals more then it should. Lady luck however blesses us with a roommate who has remaining sum of bean bucks that more then covers the pizza. Soon we are headed out the door- we stop to potty understanding that due to teams of students who like to hit a little yellow ball our trek to our vehicles has been stretched and that we may not make the hike with dry pants if we didn't take advantage of the present opportunity to powder our noses. We are soon walking the extended journey to our automobiles. She is speaking. In the midst of her story she gasp for air and loses her train of thought. Why? A truck. A big, black, truck. That's right! My roommate's heart skips a beat for a truck! I say to her

"I think it's funny your heart skipped a beat for a truck. Not the boy in the truck, but the truck itself!"

Her reply,

"Who needs a boy when you can drive his truck?"

Wow! My roommate is awesome!

Be Blessed!!!

Presentation, Herse, Volleyball, Child

So many things going on today. Presentation went well. The herse is hard to explain. Basically I was driving down the street and saw a herse with a lone driver. Now grant it, he could have been on his way back from a funeral, but there was no lemo or anything. I just found it strange for him to be driving a herse around like a car. Hum...

Volleyball...well, we lost. It has been a long time since I was frustrated over a sporting event but tonight I was. We played well and gave ISA a run for their money but we just couldn't hang onto the lead we had in both games.

Child....this evening has been long and lonely. In the midst of people all night I only found myself comforted by the company of Chris for a brief moment, Joel and Sarah, and by the words of this Mark Schultz song that I listened to about 6 times tonight.

You Are A Child Of Mine
(Mark Schultz and Chris Eaton)

I’ve been hearing voices
Telling me that I could
Never be what I wanna be.
They’re binding me with lies,
Haunting me at night,
And saying there’s nothing to believe.

Somewhere in the quietness,
When I’m overcome with loneliness,
I hear You call my name.
And like a father
You are near
And as I listen I can hear You say

You are a child of Mine
Born of My own design
And you bear the heart of life.
No matter where you go,
Oh, you will always know
You have been made free in Christ.
You are a child of Mine

And so I listen as
You tell me who I am
And who it is I’m gonna be.
And I hang on every word,
Knowing I have heard
I am Yours and I am free

But when I am alone at night
That is when I hear the lie
You’ll never be enough
And though I’m giving into fear
If I listen I can hear You say

You are a child of Mine
Born of My own design
And you bear the heart of life.
No matter where you go,
Oh, you will always know
You have been made free in Christ.
You are a child of Mine

Praise God for song! Tomorrow is Praise Day in chapel, my heart needs it.

Be Blessed!!!

I'll take....

...the birds and the bees for 100 please. Tonight we played Jeopardy with our 8th graders We used this game as a wrap up of what we have taked about this year, one of those things being sex (hence 'the birds and the bees'). We also had categories like "Jesus is the Rock, Paper Scissors," Things the start with 'H', Mi Casa es Su Casa and Twisters. There were others but I don't remember them :o) It was a lot of fun.

This afternoon I went to lunch with Chris and Clint. The last couple of weeks I have enjoyed spending more time with these guys. They are amazing! I love hanging out with them and I am really excited about going to San Antonio with them and Shannon and Heather after finals! It's gonna be Fafe'.

Now, I sleep. Tomorrow has exegesis in store for me! Oh boy! Hopefully I will find time to go get a manicure with my roommate for Formal Friday! Yay for formal with Sean Segovia

I'm out! Thanks for being so cool!
Be Blessed!!!
