Belton 1

Well, I am in Belton. I came in last night to interview tomorrow for the 15 month residency at the church. I am really excited about everything and a little nervous. That's normal right; to be nervous? I hope all goes well. I am trusting God to guide my words and answers to questions. He's come through for me so many times so I figure he's a good guy to lean on.

I wish I wasn't sick. I am feeling so much better now than I have felt all week but I still and stuffy and borderline tenor so not back to full functionality yet. I am praying for a miracle tonight. I have to teach class in the morning and answer a lot of questions all day tomorrow. Can you imagine the shock all will experience if they see me then hear me talking like a man? WEIRD!!! So if you get a chance say a prayer for my voice-I need to sound like a woman tomorrow!

I just got off the phone with Jordan Hubbard, the youth minister here at Belton. He is leading singing tomorrow and sounds worse than me. Welcome to my world Jordan! At least you're a man!

Well, while the nerves settle for the night I think I will join Mac and Kathleen in a movie.

Be Blessed!!!

What to do what to do...

While working this morning, Jonathan decided to expand my knowledge of soccer by a couple of players only one of which I really remember because he brought in the "gold medal" of games as it's commonly reffered to by...me; FIFA 06! That's right I held it! For a long time.

Anyway all that to say, while I was examining the cover JRed took a seat on the "couch" in the office and decided to put our counseling skills to practice. This resulted in trying to figure out what Jonathan needed to do for the rest of his life.

Somewhere in the conversation, Jonathan made a pun and Chase said, he didn't really like puns that much but that Jonathan's was funny.

This comment was followed by Jonathan's most common phrase of the day, "So what should I do with my life?"

You know what's coming. Chase replied, "You should be a professional punner." Ha Ha Ha. Too bad he doesn't play football.

Be Blessed!!!

I'll take it!!

I don't know how I feel about being compared with a boy but if it's Abe Lincoln I guess I can make an exception!!!

Sing Song is over!!!

We took 2nd place!! I am so pumped. We worked so hard, had a blast, entertained the crowd and managed to pull second amidst all that. That is a club record for Alpha kai and I am proud of it. We have amazing girls and through all the drama, they are proud of our 2nd and are holding their heads high! Way to go girls! I am honored to have been your director!

On another note, you may have been slightly confused by the Mustache Man poem about a week ago. Let me take some time to explain. The Men of Gamma Sigma Phi were frogs/princes for sing song this year. Part of their costumes were their mustaches-part of the prince part. That said a lot of my guy friends began growing these sick looking mustaches a couple of weeks ago. The peom was inspired by one in particular--Luke's. In the picture you may not be able to see it very well, but take my word for it-it was nasty! There is also a picture of Clint who had a pretty dirty mustaches himself!

For all of you who are members of GSP, thank you from the entire population of the world, mainly those 12 and under whom you frightened on a dialy basis, for shaving!

Be Blessed!!!

Live. Dance. Sing

Well, last night was the first show in front of an audience. Alpha kai won the people's choice award last night! I was so excited and I know the girls were and they were so proud. I love those girls and they deserve to win. I pray that God will continue to bless us this weekend no matter what the outcome. The People's choice award is the most important one to me. It means we entertained the crowd and that's the point of Sing Song. Winnning is fun but entertaining is the goal. I hope we will be able to entertain the crowd tonight and tomorrow like we did last night!

Just some words from a Christ Tomlin song that I am emailing to my club. I pray that we can all live like this.

The Way I Was Made
by: Chris Tomlin

I want to live like there's no tomorrow
I want to dance like no one's around
I want to sing like nobody's listening
Before I lay my body down

I want to give like I have plenty
I want to love like I'm not afraid
I want to be the man I was meant to be
I want to be the way I was made

Be Blessed!!!

I am tired and worn out but so excited!!! I hope you all have a great day!!

Be Blessed!!!

In hopes that you will read this...

Dirty Mustache Man...here's to you!

Edward Norton
Doesn't stand a chance,
With you only,
Will I dance.

A Surprise it was
To all who saw,
You, Mustache Man,
Rough and raw.

You passed the bread
And grape juice too,
At first glance
What was I to do?

Eye contact made,
My head it did shake,
for a mustache like that,
No Christian should make.

We brainstormed some names
But none could compete
With Willow the dog
And Cantebury the street.

So slick with the glasses
And sly with the wink
As back into
Your chair you sink.

A solute to you
On the blog tonight
I pray your face
No kid will fright.

Sing on my friend
I know you can
Here's to you
Dear Mustache Man!

Be Blessed!!

A Bunch of Stuff

Best seat in the house

You will hear a lot of worship leaders/directors say that they have the best seat in the house. I agree with this to an extent and have done my share of making this comment. Last night I thought that very thing while I was directing our girls in the sing song show. It amazing to be standing in front of them and get to hear and see all of the hard work they have put into the show! I can't wait for next weekend.

But as much fun as it is to be in front and get to hear everyone worshipping with all their hearts I was pleased to be a part of the audience today. This is the first Friday in the last 3 that I have not been on the praise team. Now don't get me wrong, I love singing on the praise team and I praise God for the opportunities he gives me to glorify him with the gift he has given me but today I enjoyed sitting with my friends and worshipping with them from the "general seating."

When I Get Where I'm Going

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that
I'm gonna do Is spread my wings and fly

I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain

Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

I'm gonna walk with my grand daddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
Then I'll hug his neck

So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do

But when I get where I'm going
And I see my maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of his amazing grace

Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah when I get where I'm going

The middle verse of this song was on the radio when I got in my car yesterday and I just felt the happiness the song implies. Seeing my granddad again in heaven, hugging him and walking with him. That will be a good day.

Bill and Judy Sample

In my counseling class we did a little bit of role playing on Wednesday. We are working through Prepare/Enrich so William and Judy are the sample couple we are looking at. In class we were in groups of 3 and all got the opportunity to role play each position. I think I did a pretty good job counseling and playing the role of Judy, I don't however typically pretend I'm a guy so it was interesting to let the Bill out in me.

I tried the deep voice but got laughed/smiled at so I dropped the voice as It was my turn to tell my future wife, Judy (played by Jonathan) what I wish she would do differently or more often. It was interesting and fun. For a while I thought I was gonna lose my fiancee' as she experienced some sort of hot flashes and walked away, but she came back and we were able to continue work on our communication. Thanks goes out to counselor McCall for his amazing guidance.

Act your age

I got this off of Jennifer Walkers blog- it was kind of fun and apparently very accurate- It guessed my age (or at least it says I act my age). Here have fun!
You Are 22 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.
13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.
20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.
30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Now you try: click here

I Love Baseball

"America's Favorite pastime" What is it about baseball? The pinstripes? The players? The fun music? The 7th inning stretch? The fans? The hotdogs? I don't know but I love it. I could watch baseball movies all day and never get tired of them. I watched the Natural at work this morning and I couldn't help but be caught up in the game. I went through the emotions, fear, excitement , sadness, frustration and all the above. It's like I was there. How cool would it have been to have been able to gone to a game in that day. I love going to baseball games now. I don't typically pass up an opportunity to go to one-especially if the Astros are playing.

What is it about baseball?

I hope everyone has a great day and Be Blessed!!!

P.S. Sing Song is awesome!!! Our girls are great!

4 Hour Retreat

Well, I spent 4 hours today on a personal retreat. I found myself out at Lake Ft. Phantom listening to the words of the Zambian Vocal Group and watching the water rippling and sparkling like crystal. It was an amazing time.

The reason for doing this was for a project for my Teaching Good New class. In addition to this 4 hour retreat I have to read a book. As I was reading I found myself being distracted by the lake. A good distraction I would say. It was so peaceful and inspiring. I told my mom my favorite part of my retreat was watching the water and listening to the songs in my car on the trips out there and back. Songs like, "Make a Difference," "Shifting Sand," and "Heaven in the Real World."

Teaching Good News is a class about evangelizing and the songs that played randomly on my ipod were songs of faith and courage. Praise God for his messages through music. I guess he knows that's the best way to my heart.

Try spending just an hour alone with your bible or music or something that will help you focus. It's awesome.
